Couping With The Loss of a Pet

Writer's picture: Brian CruzBrian Cruz

The world always tells you that everything happens for a reason. It's sometimes very had to believe that... but I'll bite.

Shortly after I announced that I was bringing my blog back up, I lost the newest member of my little family. Her name was Soulca. She was born on July 12, 2024.

Although she didn't live long, She made such an impact in my life. She quickly became a favorite in many people's daily routine. From feeding her, playing with her, keeping her hydrated, etc. Many lives became involved with Soulca and would quickly fall in love with her.

She became part of our everyday smiles.

Of course, when she got sick and ultimately passed, it devasted us.

Everything was perfect, Every single detail was accounted for, the vet visits resulted in perfect health. It made no sense. Why did this happen? We still don't have a complete answer, all we can conclude is that it be like that sometimes.

It's part of the luck of a Hatchling.

Everything does happen for a reason. Maybe it's too soon for me to see what that reason is, but I am content knowing that I did everything right for her. I can confidently say that she had a beautiful, perfect life. Short, but luxurious and comfortable.

Couping is never quick nor easy, but I'm getting there. But im curous, How do you deal with the loss of a pet?

I made her a clay imprint as a keepsake. Thankfully I'm always taking pictures so I have hundreds of beautiful photos. She will live on through these beautiful memories.

I just lost my Sirius Black on Nov 26th. We had him for 11yrs. I got a snout print and paw print made to make a shadow box to remember.
