State Governor Steps In To Reduce 110 Year Sentence

I'm sure by now, everyone has heard of the Colorado Truck Driver, Rogel Aguilera - Mederos, who was involved in a 28 car pile up that left 4 people dead. This unfortunate accident happened on April 25. 2019.



This case gained huge recognition across the United States because Aguilera was sentenced, Back on December 13, 2021, to 110 years in jail. After his sentencing hit the news, people were quick to jump in and support Aguilera in saying that this sentencing was unjust and not fair. Protestors took to the streets, Truckers stopped delivering to the state of Colorado and Online Petitions were receiving millions of signatures asking for reconsideration.


Their goal was to make the state of Colorado know that they didn't approve of this harsh sentencing. After just two and a half weeks, the cries were heard. Governor Jared Polis of Colorado used his Constitutional Authority to reduce Aguilera's sentence from 110 years to 10 years.


Aguilera will be eligible for parole on December 30, 2026.
